The National Marine Park of Alonnisos

The National Marine Park of Alonissos-Northern Sporades (NMPANS) is the first Marine Park of Greece, and was founded in 1992 by a Presidential Decree. The National Marine Park of Alonissos-Northern Sporades is not a closed area, but an extensive marine area of approximately 2200 square kilometers. Apart from Alonnisos the (NMPANS) encompasses a big number of desert islands and islets, as the Peristera, Dyo Aderfia, Skatzoura, tKyra-Panagia, Gioura], Psathoura and the Piperi.



monachus1The NMPANS accomodates about 250 seals monachus - monachus, an endangered species in Western Mediterranean.



Apart from seals monachus-monachus, the NMPANS also accomodates various rare species of flora geraki and fauna, such as the oleaster, the bushcypress, the posidonian seaweed, but also the ibex of Gioura, the falcon mavropetritis, the sea-gull aigoglaros.

Guests can visit the Park, as long as the comply with the rules of the operation of NMPANS, which dictate the approach islands in specific distances, the respect for the animals and the maintenance of cleanliness
