
National Marine Park of Alonissos Northern Sporades (N.M.P.A.N.S) is the first Marine Park of Greece and it was established in 1992 by a Presidential Decree. National Marine Park of Alonissos Northern Sporades isn’t an enclosed area, but a marine area of around 2,200 sq. km. Apart from Alonissos island, National Marine Park of Alonissos Northern Sporades (N.M.P.A.N.S) includes a great number of islets and desert islands, like Peristera, Dio Aderfia, Skantzoura, Kyra Panagia, Gioura, Psathoura and Piperi.
N.M.P.A.N.S houses around 250 seals, a species which is under extinction in West Mediterranean.
Besides monachus - monachus seals, N.M.P.A.N.S also houses several rare species of flora and fauna, like the wild olive tree, Juniperus phoenicea, Posidonia oceanica, and also the mountain goat of Gioura, the Mediterranean Hawk, the Audouin's Gull.
Tourists can visit the Park, as long as they agree to comply with the operation rules, which they prohibit to approach the islands in certain distances, to respect the animals and to preserve the entire area clean.
